Snorkeling

Madeira’s steep coast with its small bays and rocky shoreline is the perfect place for snorkeling. In the clear water you can discover different kinds of fishes and a divers underwater world (Bas has even met a small grey smooth shark once). Whether you stay in the quieter natural pools or further out into the open sea, there is always something to discover. Especially on the north coast you should pay attention to the weather situation. Sometimes the current and the swells are to strong that it’s not recommended to go into the open sea.
The year-round mild climate and pleasant water temperatures of 18-24°C (depending on the season) make Madeira an attractive snorkeling paradise.
