The Photography Museum, Museu de Fotografia da Madeira – Atelier Vicente’s, is located in Funchal and has recently opened its doors again after a long break due to renovation. The museum is housed in the former studio of photographer Vicente Gomes da Silva, who became famous after his photographs of the Austrian Empress Sissi in 1860.
Every photography lover will be delighted, but the museum is also recommended for everyone else.
The museum has maintained the memory of the original atelier and reveals Madeira’s photographic heritage. With a very moderate entrance fee, you should not miss this museum.
